The WWE Is Ruining... The Big Show

Continuing this series on how WWE is ruining the most ridiculous amount of talent ever assembled, let's take a look at one of the longest-tenured wrestlers in the WWE, The Big Show.

The Big Show has basically done everything in wrestling. He's won World Titles, tag titles, mid-tier titles, got knocked out by boxers, been spraypainted by the nWo, dressed up as a giant baby, and been thrown off the roof of an arena. He has experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows.

I am of the belief that The Big Show should have been one of the biggest stars ever in the WWE, but along with the WWE horribly mismanaging his career, he just came along a little too late to be the star that he should have been. Let's focus on the mismanagement first.

WWE only knew two ways to utilize Big Show, monster or total joke. It makes sense on a very basic level if you have no ingenuity. The monster part explains itself, as he is the biggest guy around, so how is anybody going to beat somebody who has such a tremendous physical advantage? But even then, they never really let him dominate for any long stretches of time. Instead, something goofy would always happen which must have inspired WWE's other form of Big Show, and that's Big Joke. I mean, the simplest way to make a giant seem beatable is to turn him into an absolute joke, because then anyone can beat him. I think too often WWE writes all storylines for five-year-olds, and adults on the internet complain that the product isn't for them. I'm fine for not making an adult-themed WWE, but if they raised their game to 12, even 10-year-olds, it would be a massive step in the right direction.

During his career, Big Show has gone from heel to face to heel to face to heelfaceheelfaceheelfaceheelfaceheelfaceheelfaceheelfaceheelfaceheelfaceheelfaceheelfaceheelfaceheelfaceheel back to face.

The final heel to face turn was his six week stint as a member of The Bar, but they got in a confrontation backstage and nothing really came of it outside of Big Show disappearing since November.

Big Show is clearly towards the end of his career at this point, and although he will be limited in the amount of appearances he makes, he can still make a difference during those appearances. His feud with Braun Strowman may have been the best work that either guy has done in their entire careers.

Big Show is now 47 years old, so I have a fairly simple plan for Big Show, and that is to just give him one more big match and let him fully retire. 25 years in wrestling is enough to do major damage to anybody, especially a man as big as Show who admittedly did not take care of himself during the first half of his career. Don't put him against anybody small, but pair him up with another big man. Sure, you could go for Braun Strowman or Drew McIntyre, but I have the perfect opponent in mind. Cesaro. Give those two a match at WrestleMania (they technically are feuding because of Big Show's split from The Bar), and let Big Show have one final entertaining match and put over Cesaro as a man who can do ridiculous things with his strength, because Cesaro can do ridiculous strength things.

In the end, a giant must always be defeated. It happened with Andre, it happened with The Yeti, and now it is Big Show's time. He has had one of the most underrated careers in wrestling history, so let's give him a proper sendoff and propel another superstar forward as he ends his career. It could be one of the few times the WWE truly lets Big Show reach his full potential.
