With most of the people I complain about, they have hilariously lopsided win-loss records. Black has a hilariously lopsided record as well, but that’s because all he does is win. He’s won his last 34 matches, and excluding a six-way match, he hasn’t lost a singles match since before the Royal Rumble in January.
And with all of those victories, WWE has used that momentum to…*crickets*, oh. It appears they have done absolutely nothing. They’ve managed to give him 34 straight wins, and not have a single one be memorable in any way, shape, or form. As I’m writing this, his last match was against Jason Reynolds on RAW. Jason Reynolds will not be coming back to RAW as he started backpedaling before Black hit his finisher because he was scared of getting hit.
WWE seems to have mastered the ability to have losses hurt guys’ stocks while having wins mean absolutely nothing to a person’s future success. It’s the WWE Negative Void, and it’s why their weekly television has become unwatchable lately.
So what should the WWE be doing with Aleister? Well, I think an easy solution would be to have him win against lower level competition, and then move up to mid-tier competition, and then upper-tier competition, and then maybe challenge for a title? I know that’s a pretty complicated formula, but it’s so crazy that it just might work.
So instead of having him beat Andrade and then going down to Shelton Benjamin followed by Cesaro followed by Jason Reynolds, maybe go from Jason Reynolds to Shelton Benjamin to Elias to Andrade to Drew McIntyre to Randy Orton to challenging AJ Styles for the title. I’m not even sure that works with the brand split, but it’s a line up to the top, although you may argue the order slightly, it seems there’s an argument to line up guys in that manner.
I do know that this plan would be logical and actually make sense, making it truly stand out in the WWE Universe, but a gradual, intelligent rise might just be something worth trying, and Aleister Black is the perfect guy to try this crazy experiment with.
