The WWE Is Ruining... Samoa Joe

When it comes to Samoa Joe, the WWE is edging. They almost go full climax with Joe, but then they pull back, and they’re stuck with their pud in their hand as everything peters out. 
He’s been close to world titles but never been able to capture one. He finally won a title, the US Title, but that was from R-Truth, and it wasn’t even in a one-on-one match as it was a Fatal-Fourway involving Andrade and Rey Mysterio Jr. After he won the title, he was 1-2 in singles matches, beating Ali and losing to Kurt Angle and Mysterio. After holding onto the title for two months, Mysterio beat him a second time to win the title. 
As of this writing, Seth Rollins and his gang of cronies are continually beating Joe, Kevin Owens, and the Viking Raiders, and it’s just tough to get excited about Joe’s prospects. 
So how do you get things turned around? I mean, Joe is this insane badass, so you could go all the way with it, have him jump over to Smackdown and choke The Fiend unconscious at the end of an episode and fade to black like Joe just murdered him. Maybe you could do it in support of Roman Reigns at Mania. That way, when Roman Reigns wins the title, you just have Samoa Joe nuke him too so he’s the one standing tall at the end of the night and everybody goes home happy. 
That’s obviously the biggest solution, but Joe can be this scary badass without all of the kiddie shit of being dead or a demon. He’s just a badass, no bells and whistles necessary. That sure as hell sounds like championship material to me.

The WWE Is Ruining... Jeff Hardy

I’m not a big Jeff Hardy guy, but even I admire how this guy has become a legend in the sport of professional wrestling. His latest run has been fine but a bit uninspired and a knee injury last year may have ended the Hardy Boyz run in the WWE.

I’m not sure how Jeff’s contract will work with the injury, but Matt seems to be on his way out, just two years after debuting at WrestleMania a day after having a crazy ladder match against The Young Bucks in Ring of Honor. That return was probably their high point, but Jeff managed another title run before his knee injury and a US Title run in between. The guy is definitely still relevant, but his body has taken some massive abuse so hopefully an easier schedule is in his future.

So what’s the best path to go with Jeff Hardy? Honestly, it’s time for him to take a step back and just be an older guy that can put on good matches. They’ve been doing something similar with Rey Mysterio, and I don’t even know if Hardy needs as much success as Mysterio. He brings big name power and can still put on good matches, especially with the emotional investment people have in his career. Sure, let him beat some lower level guys and maybe the occasional upset to get fans excited, but when it comes to your top talents coming in from NXT, have them get the big win and use it as a catapult into the upper echelon of WWE Superstars.

I know that doesn’t sound like an inspired solution, but I do think it is what’s best for WWE, and giving Hardy a lighter workload is probably best for him as well.

WWE Is Ruining... Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio is incredible. But, at his age, how can he keep going? Then I looked it up, and he realized he’s only 44 years old. That’s old, sure, but he’s only two years older than AJ Styles, Titus O’Neil, and freaking Sin Cara. But Mysterio has been around FOREVER. I can’t say for sure, but I’m almost positive that him and Bruno sold out the Garden at least a few times.

And even though he’s still great, he has slowed a little bit, and the gap between what he could do as a small guy and what regular-sized wrestlers could do has shrunk, so it’s tough to see him seriously challenging for a championship. He can still put on fantastic matches as he did recently with Cesaro (no doy), but I’d like to see WWE take him in a different direction to make him a true championship contender.

Send him to 205 Live. He is the perfect bridge to get guys over to the main roster. He has so much credibility built up that he could immediately win the title, and the person who does take him out instantly becomes a star when they get to the main roster. Now, it would also help if WWE started just putting 205 matches on their regular weekly shows, because people still need to be exposed, but Mysterio is such a big name that people will seek it out if he is wrestling.

Let Rey shine down on the cruiserweight division, have him put on some bomb matches, carry a brand, and after he’s built up a few stars, he can finish with one last hurrah against heavyweights before retiring. It’s a gREYt plan for everyone.

The WWE Is Ruining... Ali

Let's start out with the positive. There is some good with how they have handled Ali. They finally brought someone from 205 Live to the main shows and actually gave him a push which was incredibly well received. It makes sense since Ali has just about everything you would want in a superstar. A good look, charisma, and some pretty incredible moves. The only thing that he is lacking is size, but he isn't so small that it puts a ceiling on his success.

Unfortunately for Ali, he got hurt at the wrong time, and momentum for Kofi Kingston took over, and he's had to mostly take a backseat since then. If he didn't get distracted by music, he could have won the Money In The Bank ladder match, but unfortunately, he heard Brock Lesnar's music and forgot that he was about five seconds away from winning the match, and Brock, although a physical freak, probably couldn't stop him in time.

So now he's in limbo, like most of the WWE roster. He's not really going for a title, not really getting wins, and just kind of existing to get RKO'd outta nowhere. If you want to exploit that he used to be a police officer, you could make him a Blue Lives Matter character, and I'm guessing that gets more cheers than boos, even though it may be the dumbest character in wrestling history.

Instead, all WWE really needs to do is lean in to the fact that this guy is a natural underdog babyface and put him up against monsters. Really, he should be treated like Rey Mysterio in that he is always an underdog at first glance but somehow can overcome the odds. He can feud against any bruiser. Samoa Joe is perfect for the role, and since Lars Sullivan just randomly lurks everywhere you turn, even if Ali couldn't give him his first loss, he could be the guy to test his limits.

I actually have faith in WWE to handle him well as they have already shown an interest in actually putting in the work for Ali. I know having faith in the WWE is a fool's errand, but they do occasionally get things right, so let's hope they can get Ali back on track.
